Official Warning From A.A.U.
MR. DIETRICH WORTMANN, the National Weightlifting Chairman of the A.A.U., has in the letter [below] clearly stated the official attitude of the Amateur Athletic Union in regards to the so-called International Federation of Body Builders. All amateur athletes should heed this warning. To disregard it would be foolish for it would mean sacrificing eligibility to take part in any of the sports governed by the A.A.U., including weightlifting and the official physique contests.

Dear Ray,
Kindly print the following notice in Strength and Health.
Sincerely,

Special Notice to Athletes:
An Amateur Athlete automatically disqualifies himself from further amateur competition by participating in any show or competition held by the International Federation of Body Builders or under their sanction as same is not recognized by the A.A.U. the sports governing body in the U.S.A. and the International Weightlifting Federation.
We have been advised that Mr. J. Weider and his organization are arranging shows throughout the United States in opposition to the City, State, and Mr. America contests held by the A.A.U. for many years and I feel that all amateur athletes should be warned against participation in such outlaw contests. Sanctions for A.A.U. contests are only granted to clubs or organizations that will use the profits derived therefrom for the advancement of Amateur Athletics and not individual personal gain.
