- The author who holds the distinction of putting on a lot of weight without any steroids, gained up to 204 pounds at his height of 6 ft. 3 in., then later reduced to 187 and had a very muscular physique, winning the Mr. Universe title in 1959. In this photo he weighed 228 pounds and looked very impressive.

- One of the most muscular men in physique competition was the amazing Arthur Harris, who developed his phenomenal physique during the time when steroids were unknown! Which makes one wonder, is the risk of taking drugs worth it? We say no, an emphatic NO!

Note: injectable steroids were certainly available in the late 1940s. The picture of Arthur Harris certainly shows a physique similar to that achieved with steroids in the late 1970s.
