BY JOSEPH WEIDER
Trainer of the Champions...the Muscle Builder

After years of turning out champion after champion and World's Best Developed Men, the Weider System has finally received the recognition it deserves. The Medical Association Journal has surveyed the various methods of building muscles and has arrived at the conclusion that WEIDER principles of building muscles and power are tops.

IT was in 1949, with the aid of my Bodybuilding Research Staff, that I began the now world famous series of articles entitled "SECRETS OF THE CHAMPIONS." In this series I expounded the methods, training principles, and exercises the champions used to build their mighty muscularity; it proved to be a series that changed the entire concept of weight training, altered the entire face of physical culture with its revolutionary disclosures. The series introduced new equipment, new exercises, new training methods and workout principles, producing a new crop of muscular physical specimens that are great by the standards of any age.

It was hoping for too much I suppose, to expect my competitors to join with me in a friendly spirit of co-operation for the common bodybuilding and weight lifting good. But I was hardly prepared for the storm of vituperation that burst over the heads of me and my staff. This began with the first Championship Secrets article I published, and has continued unabated to this very day.

Despite the fact that every bodybuilder, every Champion, every Mr. America winner used our methods and training principles, our System was criticised and ridiculed and my staff and I subjected to continual personal abuse.

Bodybuilders were told that our methods were without value, that they would produce fat, useless muscles. They were told that our exercises and training routines would ruin their physiques. They were informed that Cheating Movements and Peak Contraction principles had no place in modern bodybuilding, and would lead to various physical disorders.

Bodybuilders were informed that I was fat, that my articles and system were fakes, that I was in the Game only to make money, and that I never trained. To this I can only say, "Read the words of Sig Klein, a man known and respected all over the world."

Today, the training principles of the Weider System are known and used all over the earth. There isn't a single bodybuilding or weightlifting magazine now published that does not expound our training methods, yet at the same time forgets to acknowledge their source.

There isn't a single Physique Champion who does not use our principles, exercises and types of apparatus. There isn't a single weight lifter of any nation, who has not benefitted in some way from our Scientific Approach articles; and those who have followed us faithfully over the years know this full well.

The Weider System, the most up to date, the most scientific system of bodybuilding in the world, took over twelve years to prepare and is completely revised every other year, to include the latest and most scientific information. We cooperate with the Best Built Men in the world to make these changes. We check and double check to make sure each and every new routine is proven effective. Then and then only does it become a part of the Weider System. Contrast all this painstaking care with the system of our chief competitor, who claims he wrote it in one day in 1932 and which still remains unrevised.

Read the Weider System then read Dr. Ian McQueen's article and see for yourself how our methods are proven to be the greatest, accepted by acknowledged medical authorities. See for yourself how a top medical publication backs the training principles we originated as the soundest and best. At long last we have received the recognition we so rightly deserve, that the Weider System is the finest in the world.
